October - December 08

So we haven't updated this in AGES. I'm really sorry, everyone does this! We've been on tour for fucking ages and sine I got back I've been none stop with various other band business. BUT, I AM GOING TO UPDATE THIS RIGHT NOW. Even though my arm hurts from typing an interview I just did.....

SO we went to America for 6 weeks and did what was probably the toughest tour of our career. We basically started again, except this time we started again with fucking long drives and in a country MILES from home. But its all good, you've got to start somewhere right? We're in the process of working out when we're going back so keep checking our page for when we put new dates up!

I have to say one of the highlights of our trip over there was Canada, we were absolutely blown away! So a specially thank you goes out to anyone who came along and supported us on those shows, it means alot. We are definately going to be back in the first half of 2009 and we can't wait!

After 6 weeks in the states 3 weeks in europe on the Never Say Die tour was a walk in the park, and the shows were absolutely amazing! We had an awesome tiem with all the bands and crew and there wasn't a show I can complain about.

We built up the UK shows A LOT in our heads and despite a rocky start in Yeovil, the shows were incredible! Every show was better than we expected and to finish it off London was probably the best show we've ever played. I genuinely had goosebumps from start to finish. A huge thank you goes out to everyone who came to that show and showed their support, it completely blew our minds.

So after 10 weeks of touring we're back home and its awesome to have a break but we're all extremely excited about the Hollow Crown Tour in January with Misery Signals and Textbook Tragedy. Hopefully some of you would have gotten your tckets by now because there are going to be some dates on that tour that are going to be sold out, but fuck around! Ticket links are on our page.

I know I've kind of skipped over a lot of stuff but too much has happened for me to cover! Sorry! See all you Brits in January! Have a good christmas. Go buy the perfect gift here...... http://architects.bigcartel.com/
Later!

LOUISIANA

Greetings from the U.S.A! Tour is pretty mental so far, we've made some awesome new friends in STRAY FROM THE PATH, Tony Danza and Beneath The Massacre and played some sweet shows. Weather out here is mental hot. Probably do a more detailed update soon but for now we just wanted to put up some photos from the crack of dawn this morning.

Played in New Orleans last night which was sweet, but after the show us, Stray From The Path and Tony Danza drove all night long to a friend of Tony Danza's bassist Butler, who was gonna let us stay at his place.

Turned out his place was in a trailer park. Like a full on, dead cockroach, shit all over the yard, stench of death in the air trailer park.

So as it was already 7 am, a few of us and Stray's merch guy Adam decided that we would rather go for a wander down the freeway.... Check out some of the "sights":

Europe/Ireland

So its been a while since I updated this thing, its easy to fall behind! Last time I wrote on here we'd just played Gent, so I guess after that we went and played THE barn in Austria. It was a mental show, its not oftent hat we play shows these days where there is NOBODY who knows who we are. I guess there might have been one. It was literally a barn in the middle of the forest, it was mental! Some of the people there were insane, there was a dude just doing coke in the middle of the bar who had a mullet and virtually had eyes ont he side of his head. He went mental and strangled Tom! We were so close to destroying him, but we didn't.

The last show we did was Munich was Bane which we thought was going to be shit cos lets face it, not many Bane fans are gonna like us, but it was actually surprisingly good! There were a bunch of people were singing along and shit which was awesome! That you Munich people!
AFter that we went back to our managers grandmas house in Beyrouth and got drunk on a massive bottle of wine we got in Austria and a couple of bottles of sparkling white wine. It was good. Plus we went to a swimming pool that had a 10 metre diving board. it was LITERALLY the scariest thing I've ever done.

We had a few days after that before we went off to Minifest in Trowbridge and Ireland. The 2 hour drive to Trowbridge was a pleasure after the epic journeys in europe and the show ended up being really good, plus we got to hang with some friends that we havent seen in a while.
Ireland was expensive as fuck! Plus we had to go on the most insane ferry journey that we've ever done, it was so rough, people were puking EVERYWHERE, it was actually pretty fun. Well not for Sam cos he was bent over trying not to join them.

All the shows were 18+ which sucks, but we knew that was gonna be the deal before we even booked the shows in so we were prepared. The shows were fun, especially Dublin, which was the best 18+ show we've probably ever done.

Thanks to Your Demise for filling in on those shows, they're awesome dudes so we'll definately be doing some stuff with them in the future.....

Anyways, I'm recovering for Reading festival even though I only went for two days and didnt camp but whatever, I'm soft.

Europe. AGAIN.

Hello!!
So the last time I wrote on here we were in Amersfoort which turned out to be a pretty strange show. As I predicted it was empty as fuck, but everyone that was there was awesome! We had a the best best wall of death with the smallest amount of people ever which ruled! So thank you to you guys who came along and made a potentially shit show into an awesome show.
We got bottle of Southern Comfort on the rider and I decided to screw weed and just get fucked up with Sam and our merch guy Lloyd. I haven't hit the SC very hard recently and I probably misjudged my limits which resulted in me violently vomitting a bunch of times and trying to hang out in a bar with no shoes on. Needless to say I felt like hell in the morning.
The next day we were in Ham in Belgium which turned out to be an all day thing that we were headlining. We were there for ages and it was fucking hot was we went swimming in a river which our driver convinced us would give us a deadly illness. It didn't, although Tom cut his toe and bleed a bunch, nothing exciting.
The show was pretty cool, we had a really good time and we ended up doing an encore for the first time on the tour. We've had requests for encores pretty much every night of the tour but we've never known what to play so we usually end up going 'Uh, I dunno?!'.
We woke up late the next morning because it was the shortest drive ever, so we hung around until about 4.30 until we decied to leave, but for some reason we couldn't find the keys for the van anywhere. We emptied all our bags and turned the house upside down but we literally couldn't find the keys ANYWHERE. We phoned the breakdown people and they said they were gonna be ages and we didn't want them to arrive and then just break a window. So Tom broke the window. With a hammer. It was mental. What we didnt realise was that the alarm would go off FOREVER after we smashed it. So we had to wait for the breakdown people and it turned out they could have gotten into the van without smashing it. Great.
The show in Gent ruled though! The venue was the smallest dirtiest piece of crap ever but the show was awesome as fuck so it made all the stress of the day worth while. Thank you to anyone who came down and made that show so awesome! We appriciate it more than you know!

Today was boring as fuck, all we did was drive so I'm not gonna bore you with details!

All our US dates went up today, its mental! Gonna be good times!

European Tour. Ups and Downs.

Right then. Cologne was pretty sweet the other night, I guess there could have been a few more people there, but we've never played there so I really didn't expect much! We hung out in an apartment and got stoned, which is what we like to do.
Last night we played Hamburg which was a little disappointing, but it was 18+ so what do you expect? Oh well.
Tonight we're in some town in Holland which I've never heard of. I'm not gonna lie to you, it might be the quietest show we've done in about two years. Metallica went through this shit before they got huge right? Yeah? So we'll probably be as big or bigger than them in a few years time. Awesome, I literally can't wait!
The next couple of days are gonna be in Belgium which i have high hopes for, so please dont let us down!

European Tour. Mental.

So here we are on our first headline tour of Europe, it is, as the headline suggests, mental.
We drove three days to get to Hungary to play 'Azfeszt' which was a strange experience! Hungarian people are crazy! We had fun though, and we got to swim in a thermal bath so I'm not complaining. We went to the hostel that is used in the film Hostel (maybe) which was creepy as fuck so me and Sam stayed in the van. I woke up at 7 covered in sweat with a stinking hang over. It was fucking horrible!
I can't believe how freakin hot it is here, some of the drives have been insane. We played Vienna on friday in some tiny little club and it was pretty much the hottest day of all time. Again the show was cool though, there were a bunch of awesome dudes that came to the show, including two guys that were from Vancouver!
I got a bleeding nose for no reason whilst eating some pizza and Ali suggested that I stuff some tissue up there whilst I eat. I did this and once I had finished I realised that the tissue had gone. I was a little suspicious that I had snorted it up my nose but everyone thought I was being mental. Two hours later though I blew a massive piece of tissue out of my nose. It was mental. And disgusting.
We stayed in some hostel and then had to get up early (again) and drive to Sucks n Summer fest in Leisnig, Germany. We got there at 7 and caught a bit of Sworn Enemy and Wisdom in Chains, before we played (I don't know why we were above Sworn Enemy but whatever). It was a total hardcore festival but we went down ok I guess so it was all good, although I thought Sam might get bottled if he wasn't careful.
We had an insane amount of beer and got absolutely destroyed before we broke into some mental swimming pool that had a massive diving board. We got chucked out after like 20 minutes though which sucked!!! We managed to blag some weed from the food stall for free and got even more wasted which was awesome, although this morning I woke up at 8 after four hours sleep feeling like shit and I kinda wished I hadnt had the last couple of drinks......We spent most of the night trying to speak german to german people and I the process probably just pissing them off. Oh well! We also made a scene in the merch area by throwing beer over each other, so sorry to anyone who had to witness that!
Today we're in Cologne, in fact we're on in about an hour. We've never played here, never mind headlined here so its kinda scary but there seems to be a decent amount of people here right now so hopefully it'll be cool!
Thanks to anyone who has come along to the shows so far, we're totally stoked so far, hopefully the rest of the tour will be just as good!
Check out some pictures man!

Normal Life

So we're back from the studio for about 5 days before we head off on our epic 1,250 mile drive to Hungary to start our european tour. Its seems pretty mental that we're doing a european headline tour but there you go, its happening, maybe it'll be awesome. I hope it is, either way we'll have an awesome time. You always get shit loads of booze in europe so how could it be bad?
We went to see the new Batman last night and it was sweet.
Bye!

Mixing and Stuff

Well we are over half way through mixing the album now and it sounds freaking sweet. The downside is that mixing is fucking boring and we've resorted to getting stoned all day. Its still pretty boring. Ali made me a cup of coffee though which was nice.
Last night we got smashed and went to a bar called the Purple Turtle and some club that used to be the Fez. I drank K so obviously it was a pretty good night. Then we got high as fuck. Good times!
Ali is having a whitey in the control room at 5 in the afternoon. Bless! x

Vocals

Hello!
Yesterday Sam completed all the Melodic singing and it sounds fucking sweet, there's some proper tunes on this album. He's begun work on the rest of his vocals today and so far We're All Alone, Hollow Crown, In Elegance and So Far From The Truth are finished and they all sound fucking sweet!
Other than that we've been drinking beer, smoking weed and watching the American Office (don't slag it, it fucking rules). You should all do the same.
Later,

Guitars!

Yo yo yo, we're nearly finished with the guitars now! I finished the last two today both off which sound heavy as hell. Its been a pretty intense 4 days doing guitars, I think I'd be happy never having to tune a guitar again. The sight of a boss tuner and a C* that simply will NOT go in tune will probably haunt me for at least a few weeks. Still its done now and although I moan I'm actually pretty bummed because tracking guitars and hearing the songs come to life is awesome.
Tim is gonna be up bright and early tomorrow to finish off 'Early Grave' Which is we're thinking is gonna be the first track on the record. I also laid down some keyboard on he title track 'Hollow Crown' and on 'In Elegance' and 'Follow the Water'. Keyboard haters I apologise, actually...no I don't, keyboards are awesome.

Sam also kicked off the vocals today. We started off doing some of the melodic vocals first before he puts his throat through hell. We did 'So Far From The Truth', 'Dead March', 'Follow The Water' and 'Every Last Breath' all of which sound amazing. Everyone who hated the singing on Ruin and on the Split, I apologise. Actually no I don't, Singing is awesome, if you don't like it, no ones stopping you from listening to purely Origin, so feel free.

We were supposed to be getting wrecked tonight and heading down to hang out with Johnny Truant at the Face Bar, but its been cancelled! (hope your Knee gets better Olly!) So now we don't have a whole to do. Oh well. At least Tom Barnes is here to tell us stories whilst we all sit on his lap drinking milk and eating cookies.

Oh also, I went for a swim with our manager Leander at the local pool and I really wish people weren't quite so open with their manhood. It was like being on tour with Dead Swans, dicks everywhere.

Till next time!

Day 6

Day 6! Its pissing it down and miserable as hell in Reading but thats not dampening Ali's spirits. Up bright and early with a big smile on his perfectly formed face, ready for a day of bass psychotics. The lunatic! All jokes aside tracking bass is officially more boring than watching bowls which is why I'm here typing this and not watching him track.
We went to London last night to see Shai Hulud and Comeback kid which was cool, nice to get out anyway! We did actually got to see Dead Swans and Your Demise as well but we were still outside queing whilst they were playing, bollocks. On the way home we picked up a Diezel head and Cab for recording. We've not had a chance to play around with them yet because the drum kit is still up but I'm pretty sure its gonna sound heavy as shit. We've got a Peavy 6505+ with us as well to play around with. If I'm honest I normally don't give a flying fuck about tone and all that shit which is why I've been using a Marshall cab I bought for 50 quid for the last year, but I guess we should probably spend more than 10 minutes finding a decent sound this time.
A.D should be almost done with the bass today which means we'll be moving on to guitars tomorrow which is when shit starts to get exciting!
I've been playing around with our new keyboard a bunch recently as well working out some stuff for a few tracks, I'm pretty psyched to see how that shit comes out too. I had 2 years of keyboard lessons when I was in school turns out I'm pretty shit though! Sorry mum, probably a waste of money...Same applies for all those recorder lessons.

Tonight we're doing nothing. Should be fun.

Just Finished Drums

Hello! So I just finished tracking my drums for the album, so I can now officially get even more stoned than I have the last four nights. Sweet. I'll probably pop down Asda later and pick myself up a nice warm bottle of Mansion House Cream (Check it out). Woo hoo!

Anyways, we've been here for five days now (four days of tracking) and I've managed to get three drums tracks done a day which I'm pretty pleased with. Last night we pissed Ali off so much he almost lost his mind, it was AWESOME. Its kinda been getting me down though because I find it hard to take this much time spent with Ali because he overloads me. I'm constantly excited about being with him, which means I always need to pinch him and bite him and grab what ever flesh I can get my hands on. There was a point last night when I was super stoned and Ali went into a sort of conscious coma state and I started to feel really bad, and every time I hurt him or insulted him I felt pretty bummed out, but really, I can't help it. Anyway, just after I finished tracking We're All Alone this morning, Ali got up and he was revitalised and back to normal which was a relief. The down side is that it just excited me more and made me what to assult him again. Its been over two years now and I doubt it'll ever change. I want to know him forever.

The Four String Bass Mentalist Ali Dino begins work on his shit tomorrow which will probably be so amazing I'll cry. Can't wait.

We'll post a video up here soon so keep checking back!

Going to the studio tomorrow

Hello! This is our very first post of this blog so I'm sure you're all as excited as we are.
We're going to be (hopefully) updating this regularly with info on what we're up to whether it be recording, tours or just general crap. There will be loads of terrible grammer and a whole buddle of spelling mistakes.

Anyway, tomorrow we're heading in to the studio to record our 3rd album (yeah, third album, and I'm only 20, put that in your pipe) with John Mitchell and Ben Humphreys at Outhouse Studios in Reading. We are SO excited about doing this album, I can't even start to explain. Well, I guess I can. Outhouse is like our home away from home these days, sure Reading is a total crap hole and I really would rather not leave the studio at all when we're there, but its still awesome. Also Sam is gonna sound awesome, cos lets face it, he didn't know what the hell he was doing on Ruin, sure he sounded great, but notice how he sounded unbelieveable on We're All Alone and Broken Clocks? Imagine that, but on a whole album. Wow. I know.

Most of you have probably seen me rant on about the whole technical thing on Youtube, so you know how I/we feel about it. Its going to be something that a bunch of people will probably moan about no matter what, but if they don't like it then they don't have to listen to it! I'm certain that most of you are gonna love it and we're honestly so excited for you all to hear it. We've had so many people tell us how they can't wait to hear this album, its amazing! We played Ghostfest in Leeds on the weekend and the amount of people that came and talked to me about the band and the new record was amazing, its so good to see that so many people are as pumped for this album as we are!

Anyway, I need to pack. Thanks for Reading!

Dan x

P.S We're doing a radio session for XFM tomorrow on the way to the studio so watch/listen out for that!
